"Our planes are mostly geared towards present delivery. The technical upgrades to US aircraft allow us to use more data in our naughty/nice classification algorithms. Our gift recommendation systems especially benefit from this type of survailance". Mr. Clause plans on kicking off the logistical study for this year's holiday season earlier than ever. We all ho-ho-hope for the best. Back to you, Saunders.

Russia doomsday subs are under the Arctic ice. Diverting the sub killers to Europe is a plus for them.

RC-135s aren't sub hunters... They listen in on signals such as communication, radar, etc. They have no ability to detect a submarine.

P-3s and P-8s are the sub hunters.

hmm not many of those pro-z Russian denialist here to tell us how this doesn't matter because the West is collapsing and everything Putin is doing is going to plan lol. Enjoy tripling that NATO border morons, getting more buffer zone from NATO the whole reason you started this.

They call it the new world order. Crazy.

But, after all, the Putin trolls you find on social media are mostly younger guys at special offices to just post this crap all over, again and again. They love them some money and are probably on Putins side anyway. Very popular in these countries.

You can try to play this with a friend. Let them try to argue against you while you defend something obviously stupid like a genocide. It is so easy to make up arguments that sound totally correct while they talk against a wall.

In written form this leaves a trail of conversation with them having the last word because the counter part just doesn’t want to continue this crap. This is fucking dangerous. Many people read these comments and many people slowly change their mind.

> Military expert Per Erik Solli with the Norwegian Institute of Foreign Affairs' research group on security and defense says the flight was significant as NATO "Now can use the airspace over mid- and northern Finland to collect information about the Kola-base complex area."

> The aircraft are frequent visitors to airspace over the Black Sea, in the Baltics around Kaliningrad, and up north, over the Barents Sea.

> Simultaneously as the U.S. surveillance jet made its first flight over Lapland south of the Kola Peninsula on Thursday, Finland's NATO membership took a significant step forward with the Turkish parliament's foreign affairs committee unanimously approving the Nordic country's accession to the alliance.

There's an oven onboard and the flights are long. You're missing out!

If you're lucky, you fly with someone who likes to bake. We had a MSgt who loved to bake us all cookies or other yummy treats. Really made those long days better.

Major policy blunder for Putin. Enlarging Nato instead of containing it. Now Stalin and Lenin are double gnashing their teeth in hell waiting for Putins arrival so they can personally deal with him.

>Unlike Norway, which has self-imposed restraint on NATO activity near its border with Russia, Finland is now opening its skies for US intelligence flights along the eastern frontier.

I always thought Norway was a strong NATO ally, what is this Putin appeasement shit?

lallen t1_jdu1lee wrote

This is a policy that dates back to the 40s and 50s, it has nothing to do with putin.

yellekc t1_jdu2p93 wrote

Well I'm happy Finland will be joining, since we need countries with a backbone on the frontier of NATO and Russia, and not ones that self impose restrictions on the intelligence activities of the alliance.

We have clearly seen there is nothing to gain by milquetoast attempts not to "provoke" Russia.

The only people who truly know the aircraft’s capabilities aren’t going to tell. Obviously they see value there to make it worth it though.

That is a regular North Norwegian newspaper.

Manned by regular Norwegian journalists.

There are lots of fish up there, but their newspapers are not fishy.

fairlyrandom t1_jdrqudh wrote

Norwegian here, I vaguely recall seeing the name before, but I'm pretty sure its an independent newsorg, and basic googling seems to support that.

Apparently their editor was declared persona non grata by Russia in 2016, and the site was blocked there in 2019.

Moreover the FSB apparently attempted to pressure the Norwegian government to silence the newspaper/site, on the basis that it was harming the relationship between the two nations, the source for that is a report from NRK which is the staterun news organization of Norway, sort of Norway's BBC.

In short, I can't say if this site is fully trustworthy or not from experience, but its not part of a Russian propaganda network as far as i can tell.

man Russia should just put nukes on Cuba , Cuba is never gonna escape the sanctions anyway

−40

TheBusStop12 t1_jdrw70e wrote

Don't you think Cuba would get a say in that? AFAIK their current stance is "nope, keep us out please"

Finland on the other hand requested this, and joining NATO was supported by the majority of the population and the vast majority of Parliament

13

Minute-Pangolin-5788 t1_jds8hps wrote

That's all fine for Finland, but in order to join NATO they will need a unanimous approval among all NATO members, and I'm not sure if the Turkish are on board yet.

Voidcroft t1_jdscqt7 wrote

fairlyrandom t1_jdsdt7k wrote

They seem to be onboard, but it should be noted that their parliament needs to approve the bill before they're officially over the line, which is still a few weeks away most likely.
