Jesus the money and time that was spent fighting this you'd think it was going to be 49%-51%. I wonder if we could ever calculate how much fucking money was spent against this.

Only an idiot people would think "We don't need to worry about this until it becomes a problem". This is a safeguard for the future.

To be an idiot and think preparing for the future is not worth our time is one thing... But I would go a step further and say it would take an exceptional fucking moron to practice complacency after what happened with Roe v. Wade. How many of you fucking mouthbreathers used to say it'd never get repealed? How many of you said not to worry? How many of you said right now's not the time? How many of you said to wait?

I hope the day will never come where this amendment becomes our foremost line of defense, because when that day comes there will surely be people like you poking spears in our backs.

Just to clarify, I agree the amendment is needed, the waste I was talking about was these anti groups, who must have done SOME polling, seeing a 25-75 split and still chucking good money after bad.

No, I totally get what you meant. You can chuck millions of dollars at Vermonters, and it's not going to convince Vermonters that "abortion bad". I'm glad these lobbyists are idiots and are wasting their money.

Interestingly, States I once loved (including Montana) voted against women's health care for pregnancy that is frighteningly unexpected (unhealthy, criminal, non-viable, dangerous) and also voted against care for children born of such strife or danger, even when born of children. Miscarriage also falls into this Healthcare need. I'm glad I won't need to try to find a good lawyer before I try to find a good doctor.

That's what I figured when I first saw the ads, then a poll came out a couple weeks back or whatever showing basically this exact result and I was flabbergasted for the same reason.

How much defense will it really provide? A federal law banning abortion will just supercede the VT constitution, no? It will protect against a state law though, unless a new amendment gets passed.
