I personally like the devil’s part better, it has that more rock and roll feel like u/AudibleNod mentioned, but if you really focus on the fiddle part of it, it’s not good. Especially as it goes on, you can hear how it degrades, even my untrained ear

You lose and you give your soul or you win and condemn yourself by being prideful.

You don't hear what Johnny plays on his fiddle. The lyrics are describing the songs that he plays. Fire on the mountain, house of the rising sun, chicken in a bread pan and granny does your dog bite are all songs and the lines that mention them mostly include lyrics to the song too.
