We were all blown away by (Ty?) the bass player and how incredibly good he was.

He records all of his music in Springy because it’s a smaller/more chill town. There’s an interview somewhere where he basically says “Springfield has a more grateful audience, it’s harder to impress people in LA” or something to that effect.

Came here to say this. Most people don’t know that two of the most recognizable songs from the 80s came from a guy who calls Springfield his home. I believe he used to be part owner in a studio downtown and also still has a home here on the east outskirts of town.

I went to junior high and high school with Shaun. Awesome dude and amazingly talented. First time I heard him play was in a junior high school talent show and I was blown away by what he can do on the bass.

Charles Haden lived here with his family as a child. They had a radio program and he started singing on it at age 2. He went on to become a famous and influential jazz bass player. He was interviewed on Fresh Air several times. Very interesting.

Perhaps Lou Whitney of The Morells. They did the song about the original Red’s Hamburg. He was more well known as a producer/engineer. On a side note, he’s in a documentary about Ozarks musicians called The Center of Nowhere that came out in 2020. Pretty cool and easy to catch for free on streaming.
