I’m not a trans man, but I am a masc-of-center overtly queer woman. I get my hair done at Talk of the Town on Glenstone, me and another butch friend haven’t had problems.

You can also try Cuts by James, he’s relatively new at the game but he does good work and I know he’s an ally.

EDIT: “BUTCH” NOT BITCH

I hear good things about The Coven, but i havent personally been.

Im a masc lesbian and I've been going to Kristen over at the structure salon next to the walmart on glenstone and kearney. She's cuts mine and my gfs hair and never given us problems. She's super nice. Bring a picture and explain what you want, and you'll get it.

You should look into Wallace Rae! They're LGBT friendly! Beau cut my hair and did a great job and I know there are other great stylists there as well.

I go to Michael at aristo. I'm a woman, but hes a great stylist who takes his job seriously and has respect for his clientel. I know my nephew has always been happy with him, and he's very open and accepting

My wife works at Rebel Saints in Nixa and said she’d love to have you in. Ask for Robyn.

I'm transmasc, 6+ years into my medical transition. Suffered from the same issue as you until I went into Hudson Hawk. They hiked their prices and I got with my partner who does my hair now- but I have several other trans (of all sorts!) friends who go to Blu Skies. They have queer people on staff, I believe.

I have the same question, but as a trans woman.

Nigel or Beau at Wallace Rae! I’ve been going for about a year now. It’s a super affirming place. They also have a fully stocked lil bar area with complimentary drinks, beer, and coffee. Good luck, bro!

This is probably a wildly inconvenient suggestion but there’s a new queer hair salon in Fayetteville called ontheverge.xyz - that’s their handle and web address. I’ve been following them on IG and they do cool stuff!

Raven is super good and chill. She used to be at Hudson Hawk until her and another barber left and started their own little spot. It’s called Maven’s.

Find a picture of the look you want and take it to the barber.

Tell them what you want and they'll do it. Like, exactly what you want...not just one word descriptors.

Would it be useful to have more of a "Where should I NOT get my hair cut as a trans man?" kind of post?

I would hope (might be very wrong) that there is a decent expectation if you walk into most places in town, especially the chains, that they wouldn't bat an eye. But are there any actually trans hostile places?

I say this as a Cis man who would then for sure NOT patronize those places.

I always promote Expo cuts at the shopping center of Campbell and Walnut Lawn. Where Rapid Roberts is located. Note, I am not trans. I just love going there, and they are locally owned.
