Last thing we need is quantity over quality. Looks like we are entering an AI cold war with emphasis on pleasing shareholders instead of developing a technology that can have a positive impact on humanity. Sad.

I think you got this backwards. Companies feel they are getting closer to AGI so they stop cooperating and think about how to outmanoeuvre the others.
