Are there any cultural centers in Providence? Or are there bars or clubs that people of Asian descent usually go to?

That’s actually pretty interesting thanks for the info
You might check out this place? https://www.cseari.org/
There is a gallery reception this Saturday from 5-7 in Jamestown featuring a Cambodian photographer and her work. Most of her photos are of other south Asians/East Asians and their family, some of whom will be there to see their photos. Could be a good start there to meet that community of support for her.
Edit to add source: am Asian
What is the name of this gallery?
Curiosity Store, 14 Narragansett Avenue 02835
Thanks
Also not a bar or club - but if you’re interested in fitness, Rogue Island Combat is Cambodian and veteran owned
I could be totally wrong, am not brown, RISD student, or asian. but I imagine college hill area has a decent asian population? I love walking around that area because of the historic feels and I definitely see a lot of asians.
I don’t know much about the bar/club life here, but Cafe Choklad is a cute cafe in college hill and I always see asians there! best of luck though!

Me too. Just moved here. Can we all just hangout? Lol
Come to Beer Club tonight at Proclamation Brewery at 7pm. There's a decent amount of us that go regularly.
I think I've not seen a lot of South Asians in Providence, they're more around Cumberland/Pawtucket areas. Growing up as a Southeast Asian in Providence, I personally thought there was a lot of us. But there were not many South or East Asians. At work, I have several South Asian colleagues but I they are past the age of clubs. East Asians are more concentrated in Boston.
The student population of college hill has really become concentrated with Asian folks.
Yes there are more Indians living in providence whereas they (we) used to be in the burbs.
The s e Asian population is kinda spread out but s providence and Cranston has numbers.
As far as places that people hang out…naw, race doesn’t matter.
As time went by we mingled with a lot of different races. It's been over 4 decades since my family came over from the Country and a lot of the first generation Americans just learned to adapt to their environment. We really never had a race war with anyone in Rhode Island so as time went by we got to learn from each other and embrace each other similarities and differences.
I still hang out with a handful of my closest Southeast Asian friends at https://instagram.com/stories/ribeerclub/3021422725306514529?utm_source=ig_story_item_share&igshid=MDJmNzVkMjY= Beer Club and that could be a starting point for you.
Good Luck!
I find many if not all of them keep to themselves and only hang around with one another they all seem to be related in some way or another, I’m referring to people that come from the jungle areas of Asia, not sure what you were really asking
I have many SE Asian friends here in Providence over the years and I have not found that at all. Your comment strikes me as deeply ignorant

Congrats on your second grade mentality

The Asian population excluding college students is less than %5 in Providence and probably declining. At one time there use to be a Chinatown in downtown Providence which consisted of a couple streets.
Enclave areas of Providence such as Smith Hill , West End, even South Side used to house many Southeast Asian refugees from Laos and Cambodia that came late 70's early 80's. Majority have either moved to other neighborhoods/ cities or just moved out of state. You can see some business still in existence along with a Southeast Asian cultural center on Elmwood Ave. There are existing Theravada Buddhist centers still in Providence that cater to the Cambodian community, I know there are maybe 2. Also another one in Cranston, a Laotian catered temple in North Smithfield and Woonsocket.
As far as bars/clubs that Asian people go to well there are none that focus specifically on Asians, most go to whatever bar/club of their choice
FYI this city has never had a person of any Asian descent run for mayor, never had an Asian descent person on city council albeit 1 girl ran last year. There hasn't been much migration since the last wave from the 70's/80's. You might see a lot of Indian people now but not enough where they have an enclave area.
Usually Asians (East/South/Southeast) are left out of most social things due to the numbers.
Surprisingly if you go next door in Massachusetts to Worcester, Boston, Lowell they actually have some large size communities of Chinese, Vietnamese, Cambodian . On top of smaller Asian communities.
