The solution to large trucks blocking streets to access loading docks is smaller trucks.

As someone who just moved to Providence from Los Angeles where TJ's is rampant: get used to this.

It's easier to go to the one in Warwick, the parking lot at Providence location is a clown show...
BOKEH_BALLS t1_iwr9oc4 wrote
The Providence location is catered toward pedestrians lmao

Lol still sucks walking there... I've only been on past two Saturdays that could have a lot to do with it too.
JuciestDingleBerry t1_iwt5xhd wrote
I'm not certain what you mean, pretty walkable over there. What is your experience?
amblack_23 t1_iwwkxjr wrote
Well I don't do well with tons of people. It's a new location so I'm sure it will settle down after the charm wears off. Walkable yes, just crowded
JuciestDingleBerry t1_iwwn7zl wrote
Ah I hear you. It's the opposite for me for sure. I don't mind crowded sidewalks and stuff, always makes me happy to see so many people. But crowded grocery stores... Not a fan myself

Funny. They loaded the entire store prior to opening and no concerns were raised then.
Also IMO this area is super wide and not heavily trafficked. Biggest concern I see is the people coming off the exit ramp to the right with people rarely coming from this direction.
Granted this is definitely not ideal if a regular occurrence and expectation.

Only when they take delivers, how often could that be?

Why did you post this? The rationale is not evident.

The trailer is blocking 2 of 3 lanes of traffic at an off ramp.

Doesn't look like the truck is backed all the way in yet? What's the issue?
tads73 OP t1_iwq5jsp wrote
Nope, that's where it needs to be to allow pallets to be moved onto the sidewalk using a driveway like entrance. If it were any further back, the trailer would be in the way if the ramp.
AttackonRetail t1_iwpshge wrote
Whats interesting to me in this picture is that the truck could have entered the street from the other direction and not blocked traffic. Chalk it up to them being new for now i guess.
tads73 OP t1_iwq4vdk wrote
The rear of the trailer is lined up with a ramp in the sidewalk, same size as a driveway. This ramp is the only way to move product pallets with pallet jacks.
AttackonRetail t1_iws0st0 wrote
No. Thats a lift gate from the rear of the trailer. Truck should be able to drop load either direction and be dock adjacent unless it's a side loader which isnt the case here. The truck could easily have parkes the other direction. The ONLY excusable reason is if some vehicle was illegally parked on the TJ side of the street forcing the truck to that approach.
tads73 OP t1_iws1zay wrote
How does a lift gate extend over the curb?
