Way back, it was a cow pasture, stock yard. To move the cows, they said " Wey Bossy". An English thing. Now you know we're it came from.

this is completely false, it’s a narragansett term for a river where three trails meet.

I'm skeptical. Weybossett looks too much like an English rendering of a Narragansett word, like many RI place names.

Look it up, used to be a peninsula there, etc. Like early 1700s. I was told that by guy at historical society but who knows where it's derived from.
