They have been couch surfing and have run out of options. They have been to Allegheny link multiple times and are told there are no shelter openings. Mom could find family to care for child but does not want to be separated as child is only 15 mths. Where else can she turn?

Many places want you to go through the Link which can be like running into a brick wall. Keep nagging them to speak to somebody else or ask for recommendations on where else to call.

AHN has a drop in center on Smithfield and 6th. Hours are inconsistent but the staff there will actively do their best to track down resources for you. Best of luck. DM me if you need some more options but those jumped to mind.

I’m a pregnant woman who is a client of an organization that may be able to help and/or link her to resources that can. I’ll ask!

I would absolutely go batshit if someone tried to separate me from my 18 month old, and he was even more helpless as a 15 month old.

All family shelters take referrals from Allegheny Link.

You have to, unfortunately, call every day as shelter vacancies change each morning.

Allegheny Link is short staffed right now but they can be emailed at alleghenylink@alleghenycounty.us

They are open 8am-5pm

Our experience has been that the only way is to go in person. They do not respond to emails and we've been on the phone for more than 45 minutes on hold for multiple occasions. This person doesn't have the resource to get downtown everyday either to keep going in there and being turned away very frustrating

So I have been in contact with the manager at the Link and they said they have not had anyone call in the past few days as a mother with 15 month old needing shelter. There is family shelter available.

If it would be helpful and your friend is open to it, you could IM me their phone number so the Link can directly reach out to them to find shelter.

try and send an email to link at least for right now, maybe something will open up or put in the email that if there is a wait list please add mother and child to wait list. They are in desperate need. Please contact every shelter from the list in the link below and see if they can accommodate

If you’re getting nowhere with the Link I would try the DHS Directors Action Line. Or your local city council person. Just a thought.

When we rang Bethlehem Haven I realized that we've called a few times and we never get anything but a message that says that there's no voicemail setup

I’ve tried several times to contact Bethlehem Haven asking if they accept donations of clothing. You can’t even leave a message. I know these places are understaffed but, geez, I’m talking calls over a span of 4-5 months. Somebody should have fixed it by now.
