I always hear this, can a boat owner confirm?

Is it the docking fees and maintenance?

Sales guy at my office owns a boat. In the last two years, it's probably spent 75% of the time under repairs. I think he's taken it out once.

Imho, of all the ways there are to waste money, owning a boat probably tops my list.

Own a boat. It’s expensive but if you have the time to use it you love it. Maintenance fees are min $1000 year, fuel is $500 year min and docking can be between free and $5k a year.

Best day is when you get to show it off on a perfect day and everything works out. Everyone is jealous and you look like a G. Worst day is when you break down/something happens/bad weather with a guest.

The cost on maintenance for the amount of times you use it. A lot of people get boats but then hardly use it, my boat really had to be used every weekend for it to be worthwhile and didn't have time, the conditions weren't always good for taking it out so hardly go used.
