First photoshop, I usually only edit photos. Any tips greatly appreciated. Editing to add tips on how to do better with photoshop not money tips. I hope that wasn’t what someone thought.

Avoid using parts of the image that have already been cropped unless your edit can “replace that part. Instead try to focus more on the middle krampus and child. This way you have more of the body to work with :)

Thank you! That makes sense and I felt the man on the left felt chunky too, so I should have went with that thought. Also for backgrounds do most just search online or are there good apps for that? Again total newbie. Ok and one more question what’s the best app for clipping the wanted bits from the main pic. Free is better as I’m still just playing around with it.

I search for backgrounds, my favorite tool is photopea the website, but it is more advanced than a phone app. It’s harder to learn in the beginning, but definitely worth it in 3 or so months of infrequent use

Not a photoshop battle, but this may help. Although the background is actually mostly real colors (taken with a microscope and camera using a few light tricks) the praying mantis you are looking at is made of around 4 photos stitched together. A lot of the background is blended together, hence why some of it looks lower “detail” than other parts. https://www.instagram.com/p/Cc4V4vJLx5g/?igshid=MDJmNzVkMjY=

Edit this photo is split in three parts (each day I worked on it) by imperfect shading. However the entire photo is made of probably 20 photos, all blended together to a degree

I did learn some of the photo stitching in light room, years ago. You did awesome with that. Cool find too, but poor praying mantis I love those dudes. I didn’t even think of trying to stitch them together that way. Now I’m gunna go relearn that, thanks.
