Seeing the applications of "lists" in practice, it adds a bit of context to Greg Abbott's Texas wanting a list of trans kids so badly.

I. Agree that Abbott is a monster but not every news story belongs to the USA.

Surely, every list like these belong to the world and we could all stand up together to fight back

I'm normally on board with Americans being more aware of their place in the world, but we're currently in an escalating genocide here in the States. The Russian kill lists were talked about months ago, and the Texas transgender list news only recently broke and is part of a larger effort to systemically genocide people in the States. The war in Ukraine hasn't had significant news in some time. We already know Russia war crimes indiscriminately on a quest for genocide. This doesn't mean it isn't worthy of talking about, but it's also important for Americans to point out what's happening in other countries that are experiencing/have experienced genocide and say "Kinda weird that it's happening here."

Also, you have to know what's going on in other countries in order to compare in the first place.

True, but I was looking to bait someone into arguing that "lists" are somehow innocuous and not used for harassment and (as shown here in clear war crimes territory) even worse.

Clearly, you're not going to make that argument and that's good.

Ugh, Americans are cringy enough online already, we don't need to insert ourselves into this over "lists" sometimes others have issues that needs to be heard not used for conversational jumping off points ror our own issues.

Do you think using another tragedy to highlight our own serious issues and taking away from the conversation to focus on only us is helpful? Especially in a comment section of a tragedy on the other side of the earth? You're not helping, what's going to help is boots on the ground in Texas, pounding on doors, protesting, rallying and demanding, also getting as many trans people into safe spaces as possible, not what's going on in this thread.

When it comes to not helping, you don't know who I am or what I am doing but you sure are driven by your arrogant self assurance that you are in a position to lecture me.
