I'm looking to give a GC to a young (28ish) couple who live in the Portsmouth area.

We have attended the old NH Passport Beer & Food event at Strawberry Banke and that would have been perfect, but it seems to have been discontinued since Covid.

Are there any events (harvest dinners, shows, etc) that might be a good fit?

Thanks for any help.

Check out the Seacoast Rep theater. They put on some fantastic shows and it is a great little venue. It is really close to downtown too so easy to get dinner before or after a show. https://seacoastrep.org/

The players ring is one of my favorite places for an intimate show. They partner with Puddle Dock across the street for a 10% discount.

It’s a ways away, but Strawberry Banke has a wine and food festival every September- I’ve been twice and it’s a great time! https://www.strawberybanke.org/events/vintage-and-vine.cfm

Thanks, I'm shocked that I didn't see that myself. They are more beer than wine people, but it looks pretty good.

Usually Jimmy's Jazz Club has some good shows depending on the music they are into.

Thanks, I have scrolled through that and didn't see anything. I'll try and take another look.

Came here to suggest a gift card for Jimmy's as well. Love that place.

Fair Warning - - do not go for the food. It is not bad - but it is food at a Jazz club.

Drinks? Great. Music and atmosphere? ON POINT.

I am all about good food and it isn't bad there. It is simply overpriced and very small portions ( becuase it is a club not a "resturant").

PLENTY of great places to eat in Portsmouth before or after a show.

What are they into? Here are some concerts in the general area https://www.pollstar.com/cities/portsmouth-45935

Lots of different things on Eventbrite as well. Holiday cocktail crafting class perhaps?

They are really more food and drink people than music people. They are also into supporting causes like homelessness and eating local, etc so I was thinking maybe a fundraiser, like the Black Trumpet Dinner in January.

I saw that cocktail class and was interested, but we'll be giving it to them on Xmas or shortly after so that's out. I appreciate the feedback.

Thanks for all the info.

It feels like we will get them each a Strawberry Banke membership for 2 adults (they are 2 for 1 this week), tickets to the Seacoast Eat Local benefit dinner at the Black Trumpet in January and some gear from the Eat Local website.

Tickets to a Don’t Tell Comedy show in Portsmouth would be perfect. I think there’s one coming up too!

Be warned that they still require masks for their events. That may be a big pro or a big con for the recipient depending on their feelings on the subject.

I went to one this summer where that wasn’t the case.
