Always fun when people realize you can put Diesel in your oil tank in a pinch to no ill effect.

Plus OP you can just buy 5 gallons at a time and dump them in on demand too.

To piggyback off this, you can use dyed diesel (off-road, farm/property use only) is the same product just cheaper because it’s not taxed

Assuming you know a station that sells it anyway, although it's probably worth calling around for if you're gonna buy more than a couple of gallons.

Back when I was poor, we used to have to do this in the spring after running out of heating oil and not being able to afford a full delivery. I got really good at being able to re-prime the burner.

This. Just be aware op that diesel burns hotter than traditional heating oil. So while it's fine in a pinch, you wouldn't want to do it long term.

This must be why there’s always cars that use regular gas at the diesel pump. Strange though, I never see the yellow cans.

I have a red can with a diesel label like this on it that I use for my small diesel tractor so you see me doing this.

Am I a lucky dumbass? Is there a difference between the cans? I just have a 2 stroke can, a diesel can and a gas can. They're all the same thing I just remember which is which.
