I didn't give it a chance because I don't think they should be remaking lassics and expected it to just be a lame updated action movie with bad CGI.
This was a far better film with a much more nuanced story. Yes, it had better special effects, but it wasn't all CGI action, and what CGI there was was extremely well done.
Also, the acting was phenomenal.
It had:
-Joel Kinnaman (Takeshi Kovaks from Altered Carbon season 1)
-Gary Oldman
-Micheal Keeton
-Samuel L Jackson
-Michael Kenneth Williams (Omar from The Wire)
-Jackie Earle Haley (Rorschach from The Watchmen)
-Jay Baruchel (Lots of stuff, but leading role in The Sorcerer's Apprentice)
Just such an amazing cast, and really great story. You could tell everyone wanted to do a great job with this, and they did. It's a shame people didn't give it a chance. Including me, as they set it up perfectly for a sequel.
I guess they have yet another reboot in the works, which is going to be a direct sequel to the original, which is a shame, because 2014 is amazingly good.
