Its rare to see an actual best movie of the year win Best Picture. EEAAO would be a worthy winner

I used to do a Onion style website about movies and my favorite article I wrote was Oscar's Shocker: Best Picture Wins Best Picture when Parasite won

I still don't think she has a shot at Oscar recognition but she absolutely deserves it.

Seems you just don't have the same taste as a majority of Oscar voters.

Wouldn't it still not count since it wasn't at all the best movie?

Seen it twice it hit harder the second time and I wouldn't mind a 3rd viewing it's so so so damn good. Perfection really.

I think nominations are all but guaranteed at this point. Don't know if it'll win but it's definitely getting in. My predictions are nominations for Yeoh, Curtis and Quan and Best Picture, but I think Picture will be it's win out of all of them.

I know Blanchett is probably favourite against Yeoh, but who would be up against Quan, assuming he’s nominated for best supporting?

Judd Hirsch is shockingly strong and despite the fact that he's only in one scene in The Fablemans, could end up rallying the older subsect of the actors branch who apparently aren't appreciating the film at Academy screenings so far (though it should be noted that the overall reception at these screenings seems to be enthusiastically positive). Variety currently has Hirsch pulling an upset, though most places and current betting odds have Quan winning easily.

Brendan Gleeson for Banshees of Inisherin?

Karmond t1_ixezalp wrote

I haven’t seen it, but reading about it seems like it’s a dual lead film, no? (Farrell & Gleeson)

stracki t1_ixf1bd7 wrote

According to their "for your consideration" ads, Gleeson is supporting and Farrell lead.

I'd love to have seen Barry Keoghan get a nod for supporting, he was fantastic too

bfsfan101 t1_ixjsbeo wrote

Nah, it's definitely weighted much more towards Farrell. 90% of the film is from his perspective and we very rarely see Gleeson alone without him.

It’s unlikely that it’ll win Picture without something else up right? Either Screenplay or an acting win.
