Love it, watch it every year.

But the 3rd act doesn't hold up to the rest of the film, ending overall is pretty shit.

I wouldn’t agree with it being a shit ending, but I find plenty of good horror does struggle ending, but it’s so much overall fun idgaf

Alan said there was a script for a sequel, but it was terrible and they most likely won't move forward with it.

As with most horror comedies, I believe it works better as a stand alone film anyways. You can't recapture that magic (Evil Dead being an exception).

Mackem101 t1_iu5nla6 wrote

You could always go the way of the Cornetto trilogy, and have sequels that aren't really sequels.

What do you consider the third Evil Dead?

Army of Darkness, the third film in the series?

Evil Dead (2013), the third film with "Evil Dead" in the title?

Or Ash Vs. Evil Dead, the third iteration of the Evil Dead franchise?

Tucker and Dale was a waaaay better horror satire than Cabin in the Woods and I'd throw myself into a wood chipper to win that argument.

The book isn't particularly great. It's got a neat premise, but the execution is lacking. I can see it working real well in terms of a comedic bend though.

EDIT: Also, that book being labeled YA is hilarious to me. It's got a lot of language, some sexual references, and a shit ton of gore. I sincerely hope they release it as a R rated film since some of the kills can end up being pretty fun/satisfying.

I'm struggling to think of a YA title that doesn't feature those things. That's like a list of the three things every teenager wants to read about.

16

blankedboy t1_iu8b9rm wrote

Clown in a Cornfield got a ton of recommendations over on r/horrorlit, and I put it off for ages because of the YA tag. Ended up giving in and reading it - it's fantastic. The only reason I can think of it getting the YA tag is because it features teenagers as the main characters - just like nearly every slasher movie ever made...

The YA tag is definitely not deserved for this book

I read this book out of boredom on a library e-checkout during lockdown. The setup is pretty good for a YA style thriller, but the climax becomes so utterly outlandish, I am legit curious how they go about adapting it for the screen. It's like the writer just got bored with their own book and went nuts.

Knightfires t1_iu5na9c wrote
