I am a huge Pirates of the Caribbean fan, but me and my mother do not see eye-to-eye on them. She thinks they're dumb fun I watch too much, and I find it an emotional, beautiful, action-filled trilogy.
I'm also a huge Bond fan, and I'm not a big Roger Moore fan, but my Dad really loves Roger Moore, and so we often debate the best and worst of Bond.
What about you? Do you often debate with people close to you, fellow cinephiles?

Lol. Repeatedly. So has most of the Internet. I actually tried watching it about a month ago after reading yet another post about how great it was. Years since I’d seen it and thought maybe I’d misjudged it. 40 minutes in and I could takes no more. It still sucks.
Well, for what it's worth, I'm a hundred percent with you. I thought I'd give it a try because is generally well considered, but I had to turn it off like 10 minutes in, just something about it doesn't sit well with me. And I also love Kurt Russell and John Ford and Henry Fonda's version of the story.
You must not be a fan of westerns then.. Some people aren’t. Have you ever seen Open Range?? That one is a little more realistic and super good. But tombstone is my favorite
Meh. Kind of presumptive. Fucking love a well done western. Some examples of my faves in no particular order. Unforgiven, true grit (Bridges/Damon), 3:10 to Yuma (Bale/Crowe) The hateful eight of course. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid. Outlaw Josey Wales is a sentimental fav, doesn’t hold up as well as some. Django. That’s off the top, my ocd is activating cuz im prob leaving one out… I actually have an old dvd of open range, never got around to it. A good one you might not have seen and I highly recommend is Appaloosa. Ed Harris passion project with his buddy Viggo. Low budget but it’s hard to tell. Sorry for the formatting. Phone

Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
I think its an all-timer. Its technically brilliant, and great fun, top to bottom. Those close to me think its a cheesy, boring kids film with nothing novel about it.
Chinatown but toons instead of Chinese minorities.

I love how supportive they are of one another in the movie, it's very sweet and made the movie a lot stronger for me.
I also enjoyed the nice little guitar scene between them in the sequel. When I watch The Conjuring 3 it'll be because of Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga

Almost everyone I know and Drive Angry. I haven't met anyone that likes it and the prevailing opinion is that it's trash. However i think it's an amazing B movie and super fun. So I've stopped talking about it with certain people haha
I've not seen it, but the synopsis plus Cage makes me wonder if it would pair well as a double feature with Mandy.

I think it's one of the best movies ever made, my gf started yawning after 20 mins. Felt asleep halfway through, still complains how boring and unnecessarily long is.

My mom thinks that FoodFight! is a good movie.
I love rob zombie movies… especially around Halloween. He makes the best horror movies in my opinion. But my wife thinks they’re filthy and nasty and twisted lol which is kindof why I like them. Haha
my best friend and I disagree on captain marvel, it’s gotten to a point where we just agree to disagree and don’t argue anymore but it used to be a bigger thing

I definitely try to avoid Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet coming up in conversation with my wife. I think it's stylish as all hell, she absolutely despises it. And she's got a theatre background and thus claims the high ground in any argument about a play or a movie based on a play!
I think La La Land is an wonderful movie that wonderfully emulates the fun wild musicals of the 40's and 50's while doing its own thing. When I shared it with some of my close friends and family, the most positive response I got was total indifference.
My Dad and I now have a silly thing where if we disagree about a movie he says "Well you like La La Land, so what do you know." and I fire back "Yeah and you like Brigadoon." Any person who thinks watching Gene Kelly smile like a doofus while happily joining a cult is "cute" loses their right to criticize other people's opinions.
I think Uncut Gems has little to no point, but my one friend thinks it's one of the best movies that year.

I honestly didnt think it was that tense. Most of that has to do with not liking Sandlers character at all. So i could care less with what happens with him.
Hereditary and Aliens are two movies I just think are not very good and my friends and I have exhausted all remaining conversation about them without resorting to violence lol

Tombstone. I’ll never understand why this movie is so lauded. My cousin can watch it on repeat, I think it’s derivative, cheesy fluff. And I love Kurt Russell.
