That's exactly the problem, all the cgi. The original movies used lots of practical effects, they actually built dinosaurs and had them move and it looked great and actually made you believe a dinosaur attack was happening, and in these new ones they just say, eh we'll just do everything on computers later and it shows.

They also use different cameras than they used too, it’s why the original Jurassic park is so much better. Wide lenses allowed them to capture the sheer size of the dinos compared to the humans, modern films you’ll see close ups only involve the Dinos face. Hence Jurassic world feeling flat with no gravitas.

And indeed. The CGI looks good in those movies. But if they cut it down more. And use the animatronics again, and maybe tweak it with some CGI or smth. It would be handier for the actors as well. And gives a more real feeling

Honestly if you look back at how practical effects used to look I’d take the computer creations over a fake museum style dinosaur any day, and either way they still do use quite a lot of animatronics, but I saw somewhere that said it costs so much and takes too long to make a realistic robot dinosaur that it’s preferred to pay a team to spend day a month rendering it up then 2 months on a animatronic
