I’m a tourist coming to JC, can I legally buy weed?

Hi, I’m coming to JC from outside the US for a visit this December, and I’ve checked online and found that recreational weed became legal in NJ, I find it a little bit hard to believe, so is it true that I can go into a dispensary and buy weed? Any dispensary? Just like that?

And is it also the same in NYC?

EDIT: Since it’s not anywhere close as everyone said, I’m planning on renting a car in the first day, I’m landing in EWR, Maybe do a dispensary round within the radius, Thanks for everyone answering!

Yes, but, there are no recreational dispensaries in NYC as far as I know and there are none within Jersey City. The only ones I know of are Rise in Bloomfield, Apothecarium in Maplewood, and Ascend in Rochelle park, they’re all about 30-40 mins by car from JC. Just need to be 21 or older and technically you can only smoke in your private residence, not in hotels or most rental units.

Zen leaf is 20 minutes south of JC on Route 1-9. Just need an ID and cash or debit. NYC has shops but they’re not “legal” (can’t really explain that one.) All I know is when I purchased a cartridge from there it had no company name on it. Stick to the green

Any type of ID. They want to check your age and have it on file for safety/security purposes

Apparently they are not allowed to store information for recreational purchases. The id is purely to verify age

Could be extra precaution. Not sure what the fines are for selling to someone underage but I’m assuming there’s a lot of risk if they did. Most likely a hefty fine plus possibility of suspension

Yes it’s legal to posses, purchase and consume weed in NJ and NYC if you are 21+. You will need to bring some form of I.D to visit the dispensaries in NJ. Not all dispensaries have rec sales some are still Medical only. Better do some research before you make a trip. There are no official rec dispensaries in NYC yet, but alot of unofficial ones and street sellers.

If you are flying into EWR I'd do straight to Zenleaf in Elizabeth which is very close by. Otherwise it's going to be a out of the way pain in the ass.

Actual bud can still just be cbd. I wouldn’t trust any of these weird fake unregulated dispensaries. They can be putting literally anything in those cartridges.

Shop around online before you land. Some dispensaries have sales. Bring cash too, some only take cash while others do cash and debit

A foreign tourist in Times Square trying to haggle with illegal street dealers? Sound like a great way to get ripped off.

OP: just take an Uber to Zen Leaf in Elizabeth. Avoid making the trip during rush hour. The product might seem pricy, but at least it’s regulated and you know exactly what you’re getting.

It doesn't seem very illegal at table with visible inventory while cops are watching. If it is, it doesn't matter, because it's not enforced. At all.

Number 1, I don't sell pot at street or dispensary level.

Number 2, I do as I please with my money from working a regular job and selling sneakers as a side hustle using zelle as the sole purpose of recieving funds.

What that means my hard earned dollars are taxed accordingly and paying for whatever city/state taxes.

I use to buy from folks who shorted me, sold me questionable quality products, can they really vouch for whatever the fuck they are selling?

Don't ever preach to me about questionable labs or what I do for my community, because thats my business.

But, you do you fam.
