Hi! Last week I got a pair of Sennheiser hd560s. I've been absolutely loving them and would like to use them in more places outside of home (like taking a walk). The problem is that cables aren't very portable. Right now i use the stock 3m cable, going into a stock 3.5mm converter and then to a Samsung aux-usb-c dongle

The best step forward would be adding Bluetooth to them, kinda like the fiio btr5 do. However those cost quite a lot, and i don't need it to be a dac/amp. Is there any other trusted device which has the quality of like a Samsung dongle, or to which you can attach a Samsung dongle, that doesn't cost a lot?

Also a shorter cable would be very nice, does it matter which cables i buy? Or would any old aux cable work?

Thanks in advance!

Regarding a shorter cable:

The connector on the HD560S is a locking 2.5mm connector, so not any cable is going to work. The easiest way to get one is probably by buying the HD5X8/HD5X9 cable from Sennheiser (1.2m long and 3.5mm terminated). While it is designed for other 500 series headphones, it works perfectly well for the 560S too (no idea why Sennheiser doesn’t mention that anywhere). Alternatively look for a third party cable.

One thing I would recommend is price out all these mods, and then look at what that money could get you in a set of IEMs or TWS. While you may not go down that route, I think it's good to know what the opportunity cost is and make sure that the end result is the best use of your money for your wants/needs.

I already have a pair of galaxy buds pro's as a convenient but very nice sounding pair of earbuds, but it hits different than an open back. I would like to get more use out of the money I spent for my headphones instead of buying more stuff. Without these details this was definetly good advice tho, thanks for helping!

You mentioned that you have the stock cable going into a 3.5mm converter? Do you mean you have the 6.3mm end going into a 3.5mm adapter so it will fit into the dongle? Because the stock cable is a 2.5mm to 3.5mm with a 6.3mm jack adapter on the end of it that can be unscrewed.

Regarding the cable itself, you could get a velcro tie and wrap up the excess wire to have it look cleaner and be easier to carry around. It's what I'm currently doing with my pair.

I can shorten your stock cable and re-terminate to a 3.5mm connector so you don't need that adapter. PM me.

Have you tried using them outside at all? Open back headphones usually don't sound great outside if you can even hear them.

Yes i have, when I'm walking i don't go passed very busy areas, so they sound just as good as inside. Haven't tried them with strong winds tho
