I haven't played either unfortunately. I think I'm leaning towards Baldur's Gate, but I'm not sure. Maybe I'll just get both

Baldurs gate can be really hard for newer gamers to get acclimatized. But the game is a masterpiece from another time and place, if you can deal with the outdated mechanics and ui the story characters and rpg aspects are unmatched.
