You spent $969 on groceries in a year? Are the Balkans that cheap or were you eating the crypto?!?

Hi! I am a civil engineer working in my dad’s company (middle size) in a Balkan country. As you can see this year I have spent more than I have earned (because of money left from 2021) also the current value of my crypto is not shown here. Bear in mind a lot of expenses that are covered by the company are not shown here (Gas for the car/bike, license, registration and insurance, big maintenance). If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Why crypto?

Crypto was definitely the worst decision in the past year. I lost almost all of it…

Is this rich in the balkans?

And what’s carry over?

Where’s your rent or taxes?

75% of your investing in crypto seems kind of foolish and doesn’t provide a lot of diversification for an investment that’s so volatile.

I agree, a big mistake I made last year…

Use your money for a IRA contribution. You’ll at least get a slightly bigger tax refund or reduce what you pay.

In most eastern EU countries this would also be more than enough to live comfortably (assuming you're single).

Don't you have to pay taxes or are they already deducted from your salary?

COLA and pay differences are so damn massive in different places.

Would you consider yourself living pretty decent, well off, just a bit above average?

I’m an engineer in the U.S., so wondering. Had some counterparts in India we paid a fraction of what we make and even then in India they considered themself doing very well.

Yes I am considered above average. If you count in my expenses on gas which are not mentioned here since it’s payed by the company I have quite above average pay
