I figured the same but then it’s also completely location dependent: in parts of Germany 1 beer could well be 1L, and a ‘glass of wine’ will vary slightly by waiter as it’s free-poured. In south Netherlands 1 beer is 0.25L

I guess I just find this a little meaningless without more context

I assume this is a U.S.-centric graphic (as most things on Reddit are), in which case:

> In the United States, one "standard" drink (or one alcoholic drink equivalent) contains roughly 14 grams of pure alcohol, which is found in:

> 5 ounces of wine, which is typically about 12% alcohol

> 1.5 ounces of distilled spirits, which is about 40% alcohol

Yep, that's about what I'm estimating. Definitely isn't precise because I don't measure everything I consume but that's my general definition of a drink. I should've included notes and even a label of the y axis

Yeah, I am just counting number of drinks so beers are typically ~5-6% 12 ounce cans. Wine is a 5 ounce pour. Liquor is ~2 ounces

If you're looking at refining it, I think doing the math for ml of alcohol would be a better metric. Then you don't have to worry about type of drink so much as you've got an absolute number that ties them all together and is accurate regardless of location.

In what part of Germany are 1L beers standard?

Not standard but you can order it in many restaurants in southern Germany. Its called “Mass”. Standard would be 0.5 in most occations, however there are some festivals where 1 Liter is considered as standard. Especially if you plan to drink a lot you’ll just order 1 Liter beers.

Yeah you can get 1L beers here in Czech Republic too but no one does because it retarded

Idk why the guy even commented how this is relevant to op

I think he wanted to highlight that the amount of a "standard" glass size highly varies depending on your locations.

When you're drinking in cologne, you'll usually get 0.2.

When you're drinking in Berlin, you'll usually get 0.3-0.33

When you're drinking in the South, you'll usually get 0.5 in a normal restaurant and 1 on a beerfest or even beer gardens.
