Kind of surprised that given Tesla is such a big name in EV, the US export is so much smaller than Germany.

In 21 Fremont spent most of its production servicing the US market. It was mostly the Chinese factory that exported. That is part of the reason China exported so much.

I'm assuming that cars that Tesla produces in China are considered domestic for the purposes of these numbers. Same with all car manufacturers which makes this a chart of manufacturing independent of manufacturers home base

Germany doesn't have to send something very far for it to be technically an export.
