Look up iranian mosque ceilings on google images. Ancient religious folks definitely knew what was up.

ah i have just come back from istanbul, there wasnt the most beautiful of ceilings but I was looking for them, am a fan.

Also old (and new) muslim writing, very cool graffiti-like words-as-art, OT but still lovely
