Im planning to get a PS5 or Xbox series x. I would get the Xbox due to better build quality, slightly more powerful, and I'm tied into the ecosystem kinda. I do like the Xbox controller but people have been saying to get the PS5 just cause of the haptic feedback, touch pad, adaptive triggers etc. Is it worth getting a console I don't want as much just for the controller?

Some people said buy the PS4 just because it's controller had Gyro and Touch capabilities. How many games actually used both of those things for more than just gimmicks, Not many if you think how big the library is.

Same thing with the PS Vita and its rear touchpad, another added control feature that was overlooked and then completely ignored by most games.

Can't say it will be the same for the new features on the PS5 controller but if history is anything to go by......

I have a high end-ish PC that can perform 4k 60hz very well and a PS5 for some exclusives. I play with a 9th gen Xbox controller on PC and I also love it. But after experiencing DualSense I slowly started to switch to PS5 just because of the controller. I even bought RE Village, Cyberpunk 2077 and Deathloop again on PS5 even though I own them at PC.

I also played Series X at my friends since it's trending and everyone here is buying Xbox'es. It's my two cents but even with slightly powerful hardware, performance and fidelity of SX seems same with PS5 to me.

Long story short I think it's worth to get ps5 just because of the controller because it's an important part of your experience and everything else seems par. But I suggest that you find a PS5 and play on it to experience yourself first, don't just take my word.

The haptic feedback has proven to be more than just the gimmick that I thought it would be.

I don't know that I'd recommend a ps5 for just for the controller. But I would recomend it for the 2 to 3 exclusive GOTY nominees that drop every year for use with the controller. Some of which may or may not release on PC 2 or 3 years after release. But, if you have a PC, you don't really need an Xbox anyway.

I have both consoles. I would definitely not choose based on gamepad features. Games are priority, you should decide if sony exclusives are a must for you. But I would prefer Xbox gamepad due to it has more space to grip for fingers, and feels more robust. Not for the layout, I like PS layout more. Some games use the speaker on Dualsense for comms and small details like sword clashing noise in Ghost of Tsushima. Not same thing but Xbox gamepad has adaptive triggers.

Ergonomics are better on the Xbox controller but the features are better on the PS5 especially if you like driving games, gran tourismo is just a joy.

Now, if all your friends play on the box, then I'd probably get the box just for that. Performance is not that different if at all, at least not at the moment but we're also 2 years in this generation, I'd imagine any perceived differences would be apparent by now. If I had to guess I'd say that xsx is being held back by the xss

nah, get a controller online. Apple sells them in their little store in the mall often I think

Yep, it's more likely that this feature will be supported by more and more games. There are also softwares that add the support for games that does not (not very well by now, tho).

It's not just a gimmick as games like Returnal show.

I mean if I bought a PS5, I wouldn't get the Xbox and I wouldn't get a pc. So whatever I buy, I have to stick with. So I think I'm not gonna get it and I'd rather add £89 ( as I sold my pc for 800 to get a series X and have spare money, so the extra price isn't an issue) and have warranty and it's not been used

make sure that the controller can connect to whatever you are using it on. I tried connecting my ps3 controller to my computer and couldn't get it to work. But a ps5 can also be the digital edition for cheaper, but it depends if you want the ps4 capabilities added on. Almost like the ps3 with the ps2 chip, that sadly got removed like 2 models later

it's cool when trying to get a more realistic feel of the weapon I'm using but in a 1v1 when using a shotgun it feels like I'm fighting the enemy player and my R2 button at the same time lol

Maybe it's all in my head, I don't know

The DS5 is hands-down the best controller. Especially with games that can take advantage of it's features fully.

a lot of people prefer Xbox layout, but PlayStation layout is easy enough to get used to. plus you've got some unbeatable exclusives on ps5. maybe this is just my overall Sony bias but I think a ps5 is a better investment

Lol, I just feel like the ps isn't for me, I've heard some people say the actual console is built cheaper/worse than the Xbox, and I don't wanna pay £70 for every exclusive. I must say, the controller is very cool though. Also the PS5 looks like a WiFi router from the 2000s for me idk why. Don't even get my started on the ps butthurt fanbase. Either way I think both are great and it was a very close call, happy gaming!

Don't buy a system just because of controller gimmicks. Do buy a system if you prefer the controller and find it more comfortable. The controller is what you're going to be touching most of the time. You'll probably turn off one or more of the gimmicks anyway.

Lets be honest here, amazon sells ps5 controller alone, without the console, so you dont really have to waste 1000 dollars on a console for the controller, if you prefer xbox controls theres always the option to get third party controls, so i personally have a third party switch controller, it supports amiibo, just like a regular one, the twist is, it has ps4 controls as in the thumbsticks are on the bottom, so i reccomend looking for one if your really up for it, because there are definetely third party controllers for those that have xbox controls,

Turning off the adaptive triggers is one of the first things I do if possible in a new game. I do not like those things at all. Touch pad just acts like a bit select button and special haptic is going to only really happen in first party games because that needs to be developed into the game.

I have both a ps5 and an Xbox…in all honestly I reach more for the Xbox controller to play games and only the ps5 for its exclusives.

The whole haptic feedback on the controllers are cool to start with but after a while it gets frustrating and actually interferes with gameplay. I find myself turning it off, if you play a shooter game with it they feel great but there is a massive difference in your aim if you compare it with the haptics on and off….just turn it off lol

You need to just watch YouTube videos and make your mind up, I’ve seen you post for days on which one to buy. You’re going to enjoy either one you get, they both have pros and cons. It’s all about preference, just get one bought.

Sea-Anywhere-799 t1_iz6lv6y wrote

All these things you said are preference, and if you already made up your mind from the previous posts you made, then why bother asking if you've already decided. Both sides have butthurt fan bases, one looks like a fridge while the other router, etc. Play the games you want instead of nitpicking on things.

I've decided but haven't bought it yet so still asking for opinions. Also tbh I don't have anything against either but ps do have a very toxic 12 year old fanbase, the older ppl are normally chill, but the young fanbase is something I don't wanna touch

I was team Xbox last time because I hated the PS4 controller, but it's completely flipped now. Dual sense is the way forward!

If you just want the controller, you can buy them on amazon or from Microsoft without buying the console

I gotta admit, when I buy a single player game it's on PS5. I also have a series x and PC. The controller just really sells me. They feel nice.
