I've just moved from Boylston to Mission Hill and my premium nearly doubled (I use Progressive) to $1700 / 6 mo!!

Am I going insane or is this absurd? I have a 2018 crosstrek and I've never been in an accident.

Going to get a quote with Geico /smaller companies to compare, but wanted to know what these numbers look like for anyone else

For what coverage? Everyone here kept listing their premiums but not mentioning the associated coverage.

Sure I can have a cheap as hell auto insurance with 20/40/20 and no collision.

My policy for my 2021 Crosstrek is $340/6 months with:

Bodily/Uninsured/Underinsured $100,000/$300,000

PIP $8,000 with 0 deductible

Collision with $500 deductible

Deductible $500 but $0 deductible for glass

I have pretty much the shittiest coverage. From what I'm seeing here, will definitely look at geico!

Yes get GEICO. I have some really high top insurance policy and splurged for whatever extras and I think I paid like $700 for 6months. Granted I have no bad history

Don't just call one based on what you're seeing here. Call around and get a few quotes.

Call GEICO , Amica, and one of the smaller ones just to see what they can do.

Also don't cheap out on this when it comes to coverage.

2021 Crosstrek in North Cambridge and I pay $350/6 months with Geico. Progressive quoted me around $900 for the same coverage.

X2 for geico. Previously had Allstate and geico cut my rate by about 60%

Seconding this, my agent looks for the best possible policies for home/auto and makes sure I get all the discounts I can.

I believe the Mission Hill area has one of the highest costs of car insurance in the area.

You were paying nearly $800 before? That itself seems absurdly high. Lots of tickets? How old are you? I’ve been with Progressive for years and only pay $286/six months.

Your insurance is unbelievably low. 800 to me seems reasonable if they are under 25

Yeah, that’s why I asked their age. I’ve had Progressive for 20 years or so with no accidents. Just renewed last week for $286.

Does that actually cover anything? I pay like $900 per year.

Covers all necessary Massachusetts requirements plus a bunch of extras. I did that SnapShot thing a few years ago and it reduced it some as well.

Thanks for the info, I'll have to check that out. It's been a while since I've shopped around.

I rarely use my car. Allstate mile wise by the mile insurance saved me a ton. If you don't car commute consider it.

Geico the cheapest in Mass. I pay about $100/month living in Boston

Also live on Mission Hill with a pristine driving record. My early 2010s sedans are about $1100-$1400/6mo with Progressive on their cheapest plan. Might switch to Geico after these comments though

Going from Boylston to Mission Hill will do that. Sure, Mission Hill is a lot better than it was 20 years ago, but it is still an elevated crime area.

Shop around. Different insurers price risk differently. Some insurers screw up and way underprice.

I am extremely low risk. 30s, 250/500 personal injury/uninsured/underinsured, $250k physical property. $240 premium for a 6 month period. I have had other reputable insurers quote $900 for that same coverage

I have a 2018 mazda3, Dorchester/Popes Hill. No tickets, no at fault accidents, Geico. Full Coverage $500 deductable. $620/6 months.

I used to live in mission hill, In 2016 I bought a used 2014honda accord, clear history for 6 yrs, I was 23 then, I got quoted 1700/6 mo by Safety, 1800/progressive, 2200/AAAmapfre... Settled for Geico at 1200.

Moved to Quincy a month later and my insurance dropped to 600/6

A yr later I got a speeding ticket and my insurance only barely went up.

Geico is really good and definitely saved me more than 15% in 15 mins.

I hate that you pointed it out because I always felt like it was a gimmick. So freaking true.

Also fun fact, u can get quotes for houses when you are shopping for one. Helps with some estimates.
