You'll probably catch 70 in breezewood, PA. Take it east to route 29s to 100e or 32e to 97 to 50. 70 is mostly rural, and the other routes go through the suburbs, not hitting baltimore city or dc so it shouldn't be too congested.

29 does see congestion in that area during prime commute times. Typically I get snarled in the afternoon going north, so if /u/jasonpaulhowie is going south(70->29->100) at a time that isn't morning rush hour it should be okay. Just be advised, 29->100 is gonna be one of our lovely left side exits. We don't have a "keep right" law in MD, so it's 100% legal for you to make your way over and stay left to ensure you make the exit.

Looking at google maps it seems to suggest 70 > 32 > 97 so I don’t think 29 will be an issue.

Oh yes, I forgot about 32 as it's a bit peculiar in Howard County. It used to be one lane, but they widened it recently. There may be some lights on it until it becomes the full highway. You might run into congestion around NSA on 32 depending on time of days as employees have their own ramp onto 32.
