Its a 2000 honda accord, probably one of the lamest cars ever lmao. By no means is it loud or flashly, just a grandma car tbh. Im really doing this to make me less likely to be a victim of car theft.
you should be fine, my dad went to a shop and chose one he wanted for the tint and it’s darker than 24% on a big truck. an older accord should be no issue. my altima was fine darker and never got pulled over for it. they aren’t really strict unless you’re driving reckless, then they will try to go after you for that
Do what you want . Just know the risk. It's just something they can stop you for to be nosy.
I’ve seen cars with so much tint on the windshield you can’t see inside at all. Cops won’t care.
Also dark tint makes it hard to see backing up and turning at night or low light conditions
I moved here a year ago, my tints were 11% rear, 18% front, and I haven’t been stopped. But my car also blends in with the sea of white and gray cars so there’s that.

I've never heard of this being a common strategy for avoiding car theft and can't really imagine it helping. Perhaps make sure you have comprehensive auto insurance coverage and buy a club or get an ignition disabling switch installed.
I meant to prevent "car shopping" where people determine whether to break into your car based on whats in there
I’ve had 15% on everything I’ve owned my entire life in Washington I’ve never even been asked during more stops then I can remember 15% is very safe for this state
I suspect that you aren't getting very good advice.
People rarely steal cars by judging the interior. They steal cars that they already know how to steal or smash every window of every car on the block hoping to find something left inside worth stealing.
Buy a club to put on your steering wheel and stop leaving stuff in your car if you're really that worried.
Make sure you understand what kind of insurance you have and get renter's insurance for your residence to cover theft of things other than your car.
I had a black 2003 Mazda Protege5 that was a little modded, but it didn't have a loud exhaust or flashy rims or anything like that. I had 15% put on and never had an issue over the 3-4 years I still had the car. I even got pulled over one time for my tabs being a month expired and the officer didn't blink an eye.
My rule was generally -- Windows are all the way up or all the way down, limiting how much light contrast there would be between the windows and interior itself. No idea if it ever made a difference haha.

what type of car do you have? if it’s close enough to legally loud (not too far over), not overly flashy and you drive decently safe, you should be fine. I know many of my car friends who have tinted 15-20% with loud but not overly flashy cars
