So, working at the Omaha zoo, I can say that this isn't correct for here, which is an AZA accredited zoo. How we have gotten most if not all of our animals is through rehabilitation. For example, one of our giraffes has a stump back leg as well as a few other problems that would have cause her to die out in the wild. So, rather than having that happen, we give her a full life here where she will be alive.
