Lot of homes in New England are smaller, that was part of the joke.
It has nothing to do with RI being a small state. I see so many 3-4 bedroom homes that are only 1200-1300sq foot. That’s why I am amazed that they were able to pack that many people into one of these tiny ass homes.
We are talking college bros here. There is no way they are renting some 3000sq foot house.
