How about dat. Lovely view. We rank 4th in the country for number of railroad track miles! "Plants aren't high, the train is nigh. Plants aren't low, you're good to go"

That’s crazy. Texas, Illinois, Ohio, PA.

PA was at the heart of industrialization and our steel and coal industries made us ideal candidates for rail (and before that, canal) for freight. I think we're like 6-7th-ish in roadway mileage.

How often do the trains come? And does it happen at night?

Worked for NS in this exact location. They never really had a set schedule but those tracks are used at all times of day and night. Empty trains going south to load coal and bring it back north. I live further down the line in Charleroi.

I lived on front street, Bridgeport Pa. The freight train that passed twice a day was absolutely deafening. I loved it. 🚂 My favorite part of the neighborhood besides the pizza shop, lol

Something like that scares me just like seeing a house on a curved road. In the road example the car goes off the road during a rain/snow/ice storm that car is going straight to the house. If that train derails depending on how fast it's going, it coming right towards your house along with the cars behind it.

theguy401 OP t1_itt24ch wrote

They are supposed to be doing 25 tops and it's a straight run past my house is what if is. And they are normally just starting out 1/4 mile away coming the other way they are on the far track

Ah the good ol' Mon Line. Pretty much strictly coal and the locals that service the industries along there as well. Was a cool job on the rails but I don't miss it.
