Good depresing and bleak war songs

Been playing a few world war 1 games with mates and i really want some music to get me into the shoes of the soldiers on the front lines. any good bleak war songs out there? specifically from world war 1?

Both are chilling and epic looks into specific battles and moments in each war. Incredible song writing.

I'm a veteran who missed Vietnam by just a few years.

Apart from the "atomic fear" line, I have always felt that Black Sabbath - Children of the Grave is an amazing song to be set to WWI. Metallica - For Whom the Bell Tolls is up there as well.

I highly recommend you spend a few minutes online checking out World War 1 artwork. There are dozens of mind blowing and haunting works of art. It is impossible not to be moved by the battlefield depictions and the propaganda posters. Nash is one artist that comes to mind.

No one better than FISH; ex-lead singer for the band Marillion. Listen to “Crucifix Corner” ( Nam and WWI ) Or Weltschmerz; his newest release. Most of his other solo albums as well as material from Marillion all focus on World War I and Socio political events. He is an extremely passionate singer and a very talented poet from Scotland.

how bout hero of war by rise against, its not really about world war 1 speciffically but just war in general, with some pretty depressing lyrics

or if you want something actually related to ww1 but a little more light hearted, try christmas truce by sabaton, it talks about an actual historical christmas eve during ww1 where i believe germans and English soldiers stopped fighting for a bit to give each other gifts and play some good ol fashioned football/soccer
