(Asked and Answered) I'm trying to remember a song a vaguely remember listing to in the late 2000's I think. The dude has a really mono tone voice and he's just kinda talking.. I'm pretty sure the chorus says something about a fountain?? Sorry the song is on the tip of my tounge I just can't remember the words enough to find it.

2000s monotoneb singing is along the lines of interpol and she wants revenge

Sounds to me like Pepper, by Butthole Surfers. But it’s ‘mountain’ and not ‘fountain’

since it's already been answered, I will just pop in to agree that it is indeed a strange song

though the stranger thing in that instance was having a song played on the radio and MTV by a band called THE BUTTHOLE SURFERS

What a great band. They're as much a part of Texas as oil.

There is something very unique about Texan music. Those cats you mentioned, Townes van Zandt, Roy Orbison, The Geto Boys, DRI, countless weird punk bands, plus all of the early blues/country/folk artists who probably fostered newer artists sense of adventure

Fun fact, they hate what this song did to them.

Wasn’t enough juice to break them fully in to the mainstream, but just enough to make them “uncool” to their long time fans.
