Ya but if you need your keypad you can get juuusttt a keypad in addition. Then you could punch in numbers overtop your head if you wanted.

Detachable numpads give you that option but without having an enormous keyboard

Yeah keychron is the solid cheaper, don't want to really try going too deep etc option.
Check some 96%/1800 boards for something a touch different (keychron V5 instead of V6 for K4V2)

You could get a separate num pad and use that as a first build before building a tenkeyless or 75% keyboard.
