Mine is quite thocky… Huh… Anyways, I’m glad you love it, but these switches do seem lacking.

Looks good!
Foam + tape mod to get started, then look into different keycaps and maybe switches (gateron yellow is super popular) and take it from there.

Thanks! Yellows are linear though, right? I need that tactile…

Ah, yes they are. I have only tried blue, brown and red. I found that I prefer the blue for typing (clicky) and the red for normal work / gaming (red are linear, similar to yellow).
My browns aren't as satisfying as my blue switches, and aren't as smooth as my reds.
YMMV.

Eek did the caption not save?
I got the Royal Kludge 84 with brown keys.

Any tips for modding it while I’m here please? I love it but it seems like it can get better…

I have the same one but it’s a 75%. I was disappointed when I realized it’s not hot swappable. I’d check to see if yours is, if not there’s not much you can change other than caps

It is thankfully! You had me scared for a second… I got the rk84 with the brown switches because I needed that feedback on actuation. They don’t seem very tactile though. Kind of like the cherry mx browns I tried in a pc shop. What switches have more feedback please?
yomikemo t1_iujlf9n wrote
pretty much every other tactile

Just did my RK in Akko lavender purples, they feel fantastic

Well pretty much anything that isn’t brown but I have two switches I really like.
-Boba U4T -Durock koala
There are of course people with much more experience who have also tried much more switches. But from what I tried these were my favorites. I would recommend getting a switch tester.

I ordered an RK84 last week. According to their website it should be hot swappable.

My rk71 was intentionally non-hot swap and non-rgb (was all I could afford). Really wish I had just spent a bit more and got a hotswap tho!
Still a great board.

I just got one of those! Needed one ready to use stock for my gaming setup but I wanted to be able to mod later. So far I love it, but I agree that the brown switches are not very tactile.
I'm very new to the whole keyboard world, but I know my space bar is ticky so I plan to play with stabilizers first. Then I want to try getting some new switches and lubing them when I have the money.
Congrats on your new keyboard!!
