I would like to know more. Do you have a link to an article that describes them?

It looks like they were at least initially funded by the Maine Arts Commission:

They weren't paid for with tax dollars so take your agenda and shove it brother

Tax dollars or not, it's a waste brother!

It's art ya jabroni goober
RAP1958 OP t1_iy5lj9i wrote
So they should be crushed by ice or sent down river in a spring flood. What's your fucking issue? And the name calling is really mature!
tricheboars t1_iy5ly2z wrote
Arts purpose is for arts sake. Why do you care what others do with their time and money?
Thus you're a jabroni goober
RAP1958 OP t1_iy5muz3 wrote
Then pull them up on shore so they can be enjoyed for years to come. They are supposed to be in the Skowhegan gorge as floating fire pits. Leaving them to be destroyed is not art. And I believe the artist would be pissed. Thus your an asshole
linuxdragons t1_ixqokku wrote
I am less concerned about the waste as I am the idea of freely floating pits of fire out on the water.

What do you think is going to happen?

This is the key article for today. They were to have been hauled. They broke free during high water. Volunteers are retrieving and hauling them. https://www.centralmaine.com/2022/10/17/skowhegan-fire-sculptures-being-retrieved-after-floating-down-kennebec-river/
Other info: the money to build them for the Skowhegan On Fire Festival came from the Maine Arts Commission not from the Town. Skowhegan artists and businesses designed and built them.
