I'm looking for some easy hikes in sputhern maine or NH that lead to private lakes or ponds with no people on them. I'm hoping to find quiet places to bring my inflatable paddle board next year.

If they're private you don't belong there.

By private I mean no people, no houses, not private property

The Presumpscot offers a lot of places to put in and paddle in relative seclusion. I put in at mallison falls and hawkes preserve pretty frequently.
You can put in a mallison and paddle 6 miles down to Dana warp and only pass 4 houses. There has also been a nice size black bear spotted recently on shore.
You can put in at hawkes preserve and paddle north all the way to gambo and there is some great scenery.
Obviously you can do both of these in reverse as well. I believe that Westbrook is currently fixing up the river access north of Dana warp to make it easier to get kayaks/canoes up and down. Anyone who has used this in the past knows it was not the easiest slope to manage

I forgot all about that area of the presumpscot, thanks!

Pretty much the entire river from sebago on down offers some sort of recreation and it's getting better every year.
You also can put in north or south of Dundee dam. North of the dam offers you the lake/pond setting you are looking for.
Lots of wildlife along the river. I always see fox, eagles, deer, turtles, and fish. I have not seen the bear yet but I know two people who have.

That's definitely what I'm looking for. I'm over the boats and people, looking for more Nature and wildlife

At the bottom of Gloucester Hill Road in New Gloucester is a pond with no houses on it.

There are no private lakes in Maine, thank goodness. That’s not even a legal thing here.

Right, but anyone can cross that land to access them. Can’t keep people from the lakes.

We go to places in the midcoast area. It’s quiet once you get out. A lot of people do ask questions when you are airing up your iSUP and are amazed by them, haha. So, be prepared to play 21 questions.
