A manitoba kid called Saskatchewan people Saskatcheweenie's. Is there a beef between the 2 provinces?

Not really, but there’s been some epic Blue Bombers vs Roughriders rivalry over the years.

Don't forget hoodie vs bunnyhug. Got teased hard when I moved to MB.

As a Manitoba kid, we called them kangaroo jackets, because of the “pouch” on the front.

One of those provinces can't even afford to pave the shoulders of their highways, so they aren't really comparable.

This was a unique exposure for me. I was out wandering a golf course on the outskirts of town during a frost warning night. I did a long exposure with the illumination of the city lights giving this a unique look. Nothing photoshopped or added here.

Look up infrared photography: your photo has the same vibe. It’s beautiful.

The trees have been so pretty lately. I’m down in Regina for work this week and it’s gorgeous down here too. Quite a lovely January so far!

Wow, very cool. At first I thought you’d shot it in infrared.

Beautiful pic! As a former Saskatoon resident it was great to see something positive about the city.

For those out of the loop this effect is called “hoar frost” pronounced exactly like you would think and yes, it’s hilarious every time.

My spouse and I make sure to mispronounce it like Frank in Always Sunny.

7

weisbeck t1_j4zyloa wrote

Technically called "rime ice" when caused by foggy conditions. Hoar frost is from extreme cold temps on clear nights. I just learnt this yesterday I am no ice expert lol

That was my first thought too.

BTW you can shoot these digitally as well, but you have to get your camera sensor modified.

I live in the northern mountains of Colorado and there will be many mornings that every single tree looks just like this. That crystal white. Of all the winter beauty, this is my favorite. My commute is relatively long, but absolutely beautiful and it looks like this about 50% of the time. Gorgeous!

Love this photo! I’d encourage you to experiment with a tighter crop to possibly make the image more powerful. How would it look to horizontally crop 40-50 of the snow in the foreground? And/or take a bit more from the vertical margins? Just some ideas. And you may very well have the perfect crop right there!

gemini8026 OP t1_j4ztwzc wrote

I hear you. I did 3 different crops of this, including square and a wide angle with more trees. I'm always tweaking.
