Quite beautiful. Also, that arc on the sea in strangely familiar; any chance the same spot was used for an ad, movie, or similar?

Thank you! It's in Donegal, it's pretty hidden and hard to get to so I'm not sure? If you find out let me know!

I don't think there is anything as beautiful and simultaneously so powerful, violent, and lacking remorse as the ocean.

You might be thinking of Durdle Door, which is a similar looking famous rock arch in Dorset, England

Parts of Star Wars The Last Jedi were filmed in Donegal, maybe you recognise it from that?

That was up at Malin Head further North (as far North as you can go in Ireland!)

What gets me when I visit places like this in Ireland is how sheep can seemingly defy gravity.

I know, right? Irish sheep have no fear 😂

Donegal is my favorite part of the island. So beautiful.

It's Ireland's best kept secret. It's tucked up north out of the way which tends to dissuade tourists making the drive from Dublin

Dude, no. Donegal is a county in the Republic of Ireland. Northern Ireland is on the same island, but it's a part of Great Britain. Lots of history there.

FYI the term and idea 'Wild Atlantic Way' was conceived by the Irish tourist board in 2014. https://www.failteireland.ie/Footer/Media-Centre/Minister-Ring-officially-launches-Wild-Atlantic-Wa.aspx

Harz_marz OP t1_j6pbpot wrote

Interesting! I had thought the term had been around a lot longer.

gomaith10 t1_j6pf61o wrote

Yes, it's just a made up term but it has been hugely successful. They also made up 'The Ancient east' for the other side of the country but it wasn't near as popular.

It's definitely been more recognisable than the Causeway Coastal Route in Northern Ireland that's for sure.

gomaith10 t1_j6pgmjz wrote

I never heard of that! Mind you, I don't drive.
