Shame that the vast majority of tourists that go there never look up from their magic mushroom and opium shakes. Or is that all in the past now?

I'm not into any of those so I couldn't really tell if it was still a thing or not there. But they are still available for those looking for it. But man, if people are only there for those 'funny snacks', they are missing a tons of views. Things are gorgeous wherever you look. Myanmar is also outstanding for landscape tourism, sadly now ravaged by the military dictator.

But let's not get too OOT here. My point is, if you have the chance to visit, go for it, you won't be disappointed.

I visited it when I was 18. I was told how much beauty there was around but sadly I was one of the tourists cruising down the river in a rubber ring and getting off my head. I’d like to go back and do the grown up things instead though. Laos is stunning.

Stunning indeed. I would certainly love to travel back again if given the opportunity. Just gun for it when the time is right.
