Would like some recommendations for coffee shops in CT that have good coffee and have a chill vibe where you can go and read a book or just hang out solo

This guy has been preparing for this question for ages
It’s a list, but if the Norwalk recommendation is representative of the rest of the list, I’m not taking the list too seriously. That’s not a cafe at all and it’s definitely not the best option for coffee in the area.
I actually recently started working in Norwalk, can you give your recommendations for the area!? That’d be awesome

For beans—Strigo. They’re super friendly, located in the same business complex as the 314 beer garden, and do free local delivery themselves to a few local zip codes. Easily my go-to roastery, fresh as can be. Other nearby options include Quartertone (he works out of Nod Hill Brewery’s building in ridgefield) and Shearwater (a few locations in Fairfield county).
For cafes—Cafe Dolce has been my favorite for years now, and Pausa and Allora are newer options. Haven’t been to Allora yet, but they use Strigo beans, which is a good sign. Pausa is Italian in everything they do, food and coffee.
Dude was waiting for this like the knight guarding the Holy Grail
Here's some better formatting. Chody (lol), next time put a blank line before and after the town names and then Reddit will make the hyphens into a list.

>deadly grounds
isn't a coffee shop
Craftsman Cliff Roasters in Norwich no longer serves coffee. You can buy beans and chocolate there, but you can't get a cup of coffee there. Right down the street and around the corner, about a 3-minute walk is Cream Coffee. They even serve Craftsman Cliff Roasters Coffee. Directions from Craftsman to Cream are at https://goo.gl/maps/vayJ9ertwPRgcsgg6
Wow! What a great extensive list! Thank you!
Blue State closed all their locations and Candlewood is in Fairfield, not Bridgeport (but they have really excellent coffee!). Shearwater is in Fairfield and Westport - Their roastery/warehouse is in Trumbull.
Oh nice thank you! I’ll update the list
I think candlewood is in New Fairfield.
https://www.candlewoodmarket.com
Brookfield and Fairfield.
Oh cool I had no idea! Google failed me again today
You are out there doing the work.
There is no “those guys coffee” in New London. If you’re in New London go to the Washington Street Coffee House. The Wash. it’s the best.
I think the list is being read wrong a little due to the formatting. Those guys coffee is in new Hartford. So the list should read “New Hartford - those guys coffee”. And I appreciate the suggestion, on the list it goes!
I agree about wash but muddy waters is pretty good too.
Thanks you
Besides this being a really great comprehensive list, your user name is also fantastic
Tony’s in Thomaston is a local favorite
Hit enter twice after each line. It will be easier to read.
Drumroll in Wethersfield. They do free tastings on Saturdays as well.
Some of the towns are off a little bit but a very good list
There is no tusk and cup in Stafford. I've never even heard of it before. So i question this entire list.
>Giv coffee Darien
Surprised you listed Coffee Trade in Avon but you missed the actual location of Giv Coffee in Canton, CT .. right up the street from Coffee Trade.
I'm guessing you might not have been there. Check it out sometime.
Something else I like about Giv is their social responsibility.
Reread the list, and it’s explained in the edit. It’s canton - giv coffee. Then lists Darien - neat coffee
Love that Coffee Trade is first, that’s my go-to place.
The list is alphabetical by town
Perkatory!
Perkatory, Rebel Dog, The Bean @226
Last drop on 25 in Monroe!
Silk City in Manchester and Bird House in South Windsor (birdhouse is neighbors to Ct Valley Brewing so might not be as quiet but still good stuff)
Yeah I wouldn’t call Birdhouse “quiet” but their coffee is great and the food is good too
Rebel Dog, Silk City, Story and Soil. Silk City is probably my favorite (Manchester) for both food/drink quality and atmosphere.
Found a place called Dunkin. Seems to be a very exclusive place so you might have to wait in line for awhile.
I think I've seen that place. Cars line up outside of it every morning, right? Seems hoppin'
The coffee shop inside RJ Julia in Middletown. Buy a book then get a nice coffee and read it in the coffee shop.
Story and Soil, also has a location on Capital Ave in Hartford. Good drinks and great food as well!
perkatory, and by quite a large margin. imo.
Oh dear....
Raon Jena and Daybreak in Glastonbury. Silk City in Manchester. J Rene in West Hartford. Rebel Dog in Farmington and East Hartford
Rumors. 22 Mill Plain Rd, Danbury.
THE CLASSY LADY LATTE 🤤🤤
Why does this place and it’s drinks make it sound like a strip club
You have to try the Super Grind Macchiato.
I will. Their espresso was very good when I tried it.
Klekolo in Middletown is probably my favorite shop. Ive also heard Willoughbys is top notch. Ive never been but A friend of mine who passed away used to give me an assortment of Willoughbys coffee every Christmas and my gooodness was it always delicious. Doms is also very tasty.
Aw Middletown native here, love to see Klekolo shouted out!! They stay open until 10pm and are very 420 friendly lol
Perkatory in Middletown has a large comfortable seating area
Also, for something a bit different - Pausa Caffe in Norwalk is an incredibly authentic Italian cafe. It’s a bit tight currently but rumor has it they are expanding next door. The best espresso in the State IMO. And the pastries are so authentic they immediately bring me back to being a child getting a cornetto in the piazza bar while visiting my family in Italy.
Pausa is good! Definitely a cute little spot. That and Cafe Dolce would be my Norwalk coffee spots, although Allora looks nice too and apparently uses beans from Strigo to make it extra local.
Cafe Sofia
Rebel Dog
Hartford Baking
Cafe Nero in Darien
Mmmmm great spot
Loaded Goat is in Naugatuck not New Hartford.
Klekolo!
Lorca in Stamford and Source in Bridgeport are amazing!
The loaded goat coffee shop and Perkatory are in my top 3
Plasko’s in Trumbull. They have home made ice cream, too!
These are all in Avon?!?
The Bean in Windsor
Roasted Bean on Terryville Ave in Bristol is 🤤🤤🤤
A newer one is Alvarium Roasting Co in New Britain - very good coffee.
And beer!
East Rock Coffee and Poppy’s in New Haven. They roast their own and have some really great food options.
Tusk and Cup is in Ridgefield (Branchville) and another location in Wilton.
Deja Brew, new haven
Berkins Blend in Glastonbury has some nice coffee.
Macundo in Stonington is legit
Heirloom Market in Old Wethersfield. Some of the best espresso I've had in CT and I never see it on these lists. Must be a hidden gem!
Birdhouse in South Windsor, Perkatory in Middletown , Heirloom Food @ Comstock Ferre Wethersfield, Rebel Dog any location
Blue state closed
I was going to say Perkatory and Klekolo but the long lister got em!
Cream Coffee in Norwich
Between Rounds - Manchester Cheshire Coffee - Cheshire
Willoughby's, Kelkolo for hot chocolate
lorca in Stamford, espresso Neat in Darien
Starbucks Simsbury or Avon ❤️❤️

Avon
Obviously not a comprehensive list, just some of the ones I’ve been to. And I apologize about formatting, am on my phone.
Edit: this list is being read wrong I think due to formatting issues. For example it should be read as “old saybrook - ashlawn farm coffee” and then any other “-“ following until there’s another town named.
Edit 2: I’m going to clean this up and make a separate post about with the info. I’ll include all recommendations people make, so keep sending them!
