Was the village named Pompei by any chance?

The scurrying is kind of fun. There's not much going on in my office so we all got busy talking about amazing snow stories of the past. I plan to stay home and get caught up on petting the cat.

I normally go to the grocery store a few times a week and generally buy for a day or two at a time. Today when I went it was as bad as early pandemic days. People are insane. IF we get snow things will be back to normal by Wednesday...

I shop the same way and everyone is so confounded by it. I'd rather go to the store daily or a few times a week and have fresh food (not one for freezing meat). Plus, I will eat everything.

Yeah I work in the evenings. No big deal to hit the grocery store a few times a week when you can just stroll in at 10am on Monday and Thursday.

I love it. I’ll meal plan a few things, but the flexibility of “I’m in the mood for curry tonight” or “I want grilled chicken on a salad” is really really nice. I keep a stock of frozen foods like meatballs and chicken nuggets or easy boxed stuff for nights the kids have activities and I don’t have the time, but for the most part I like cooking fresh.

To better explain, I go to the gym 3-4 days a week. My gym (Planet Fitness) is in a plaza with a few grocery stores so while i'm already out I do my shopping.

As much as I love snow, I’d be ok with this.

Really hope I wake up to a text from the boss saying don't bother. Being the last day of the month tomorrow tho the chance of that is slim to none.

While I'm not a fan of shoveling snow, I'm glad we FINALLY got some accumulation. It's too strange to be living in the North east and not get snow in the winter... 👀 It's been more like London weather with all the rain we've gotten instead 🤣

The store I work at averages around 110-150 transactions on a normal to busy day. Today we went to 212. Friday and Saturday were also notably busy. People were impatient, snarky, and downright rude at times. I'm glad I've been given the day off tomorrow because I'm not sure I could handle any more of that, even after having Sunday off lol

My kids school canceled before even one flake and I am salty. They have a penchant for panic closing and we end up getting no snow. Hopefully at least this time will be worth it.

A lot of districts bake a couple snow days into the calendar, which this year have gone unused. Superintendents are playing fast and loose with this storm because it won’t add an extra day to the school year.

I'm usually one to be pissed about schools closing way too soon. Last year my kid had two snow days for rain. But with the timing of this storm I get it. I just got to work and wouldn't want my kid on a bus on those roads

GunnieGraves t1_jacl2sj wrote

Yeah this one turned out to be something. Last 2 closings were for what ended up being zero snow. Just sucks when kids think they’re going sledding and they look outside and wonder what happened to the white stuff.

I had just recently gotten my snow blower fix about a week before Christmas so I'm rather happy i actually get to use it this year knowing I didn't waste the money by holding off till next year

The gas station up the street from me was PACKED last night. Cars at every pump, cars waiting to get TO the pumps, cars parked on the side of the road trying to get into the gas station, cars in the turn lane on the opposite side of the road with their blinkers on trying to get in. Our daycare closed for a snow day (she has never done this before) an she doesn't even leave the house to do her job. It's New England, we're prepared for snow, the roads were plowed and salted all night (kept getting woken up by the plows revving up and down the street) - it's ok, y'all, I promise! 😂
