he became famous eating low grade slop at greasy spoons talking like Billy Mays in an late night infomercial while wearing sunglasses indoors and sporting frosted tips well after their popularity faded in the 90s... Guy's fast food restaurants are hardly a step above burger king quality. Not exactly the most reputable foodie celeb, and we're supposed to jump up and take note of his "favorite" restaurant in CT... yah I'll have to "go there soon"

Agree on the sentiment, but Guy is by all accounts a really solid dude. He set up a charity and did a ton of work to help restaurant workers during the pandemic. He gives a lot of his time and money to help others. He’s allegedly a great father too. I used to think he was super cheesy and kind of douchey until I found out more about him, heard others in the industry talk about him and and heard some interviews.

You're right, my answer is unjustly snide and a bit harsh, in a more innocuous joking rather than hurtful way; I have no hate for Guy, hell I used to enjoy him on DDD. Imo his diet, public persona plus ostentatious and showy signature style erodes and partially undermines his credibility as a food guru. And his flavortown mall and delivery based restaurants just aren't good, sorry. His charity work and helping others is a totally separate topic and is mostly unrelated to his credibility and competence as a food critic; I see him as more a grandiose personality, celebrity and entertainer versus a truly knowledgeable food critic or chef like gordon ramsay.

I agree! Add in that he has a large vehicle collection and they are all yellow.

Yeah but is it the best, and does Guy Fieri saying so win the day on the matter? No and no.
