That’s true, I guess. I always thought it was cheaper than Whole Foods but I guess not.

Cool asian products are appreciated. Harvest was a cool grocery store. No star market across behind asgard sucks.

Whoa did that star market close?

Wow ok. I think I shopped there once in a pinch but I never lived in that area, only visited frequently. Still seems like a blow to the neighborhood though

Yeah it sucks. That Shaws was awful but it was nice to have in the neighborhood.

Whole Foods the only walkable option for a real grocery store. Target/H-Mart/Daily Table are helpful but not a full grocery.

Thought this as well, but Whole Foods is actually cheaper for most things.

Quality kinda sucks though. Market Basket is GOATed. I go to HMart for the cheap citrus on clearance (6 pieces assorted citrus for $1! But use them within 3 days.)

Unfortunately there’s no market basket within easy walking distance of central (that I’m aware of). If you live near central your only walkable options for grocery stores are hmart and Whole Foods.

No!!!! Check out Daily Table — they have plain staples and are extremely cheap and I think mildly subsidized in some form

Abismos t1_j4067ut wrote

The way is Daily Table for staples (eggs, milk, vegetables, some meats) and Whole Foods for any other fancy stuff they don't have, evens out to be about the price of a normal grocery store.

It’s literally 15 mins walk from Central Square

nattarbox t1_j41jp0b wrote

It's 30 minutes / 1.5 miles each way from Central.

I like walking but fuck that for groceries.

During the pandemic, I would walk to MB and then Uber back (whenever safe). It wasn’t a bad practice for once every week or two.

I literally bought the eggs in the picture at Whole Foods on River St two days ago for $8

I think it’s worth the drive into Somerville for Market Basket. I have one on my way home from work too that isn’t as hectic but otherwise I only go to WF/TJ in a pinch.

Dumbledore27 OP t1_j42gica wrote

I would totally do this but I don’t have a car, so getting there and back with groceries could be difficult

Nope, I bought those exact eggs at Whole Foods last week for $6.99. This was the Whole Foods in Medford
