Not quite. It’s slightly corrected wax protected aniline leather. I absolutely love the pull up effect waxed leathers get and in my experience are just as durable if not more so than unprotected full grain. I have dogs so I wanted something a bit more resilient and water resistant.

Price? Stickley is also a pretty good brand, I got a 90" full top grain leather sofa for about $4300 on sale 13 months ago. The 82" was not on sale and was about $6k

I got this one on the year end sale for $4600. It was originally about 7k.

Do you condition it every once in a while? Hard to say for sure form the photo but it’s looking a bit dry. Leather can last you a lifetime but it does need some maintenance. I’d use a cleaner followed by a good conditioner at least once a year if not every 6mos to keep it supple and avoid cracking.

How would you know full grain by look? The grain at the bottom can be skimmed off and it'll look exactly the same on top.
Considering it looks very consistent it's surely "corrected grain", which means it was lightly sanded on top to remove the irregularities. A perfect hide for such furniture would cost a fortune, it's hard enough finding even moderately small patches without imperfections...

Yeah i was gonna say this one looks like it needs an oiling before it's too late

It’s brand new. It’s a waxed leather so there’s variation in the color it’s not dry it has a distressed pull up effect. Part of what I like about this particular leather

Never ever buy an American leather couch. Never. They are Inflated POSs

My bassett couch convinced me never to buy from them again. Leather that only lasted 7 years with regular conditioning can suck it.

As someone new to leather furniture, do you routinely put leather conditioner or anything to maintain the leather, or is the waxed coating enough to keep it maintained?

I love our Bassett couches (performance fabric though, leather isn’t my style). 4 years in, they are holding up well to 2 adults, a baby, 3 50-80 lb dogs, and a cat. Much better than our Raymor and Flannigan couch where the cushions had completely lost their shape after only 6 months.

My understanding is that full grain and top grain are two different things.
guimontag t1_j8kscbm wrote
Top grain is ull grain that's had the top layer polished off for a smoother surface ok yhe final product.

Is it all full grain? The body and seats look it. Not sure about the back cushions. Full grain leather can last multiple human lifetimes and gets better with age. Pretty sure my grandkids will get mine. As they should; it cost enough!
