I want to buy some souvenirs for my friends, something that will represent DC very well. I'm thinking about the typical things: mugs, magnets, scarves, key chains, etc. Internet is offering me stores such as "Abe's Gifts DC", or "Washington Welcome Center", but I thought maybe there's something locals know better. Any advice is appreciated, thank you!

For trinkets, both of those are good, and probably what you're looking for. If you want something actually made in DC, Shop Made In DC is the store. Steadfast Supply is also good.

The two stores I listed are pretty good! I just wanted to make sure I didn’t miss anything, it’s always better to ask and get another advice:) Thank you for response!

There is a holiday market in front of the portrait gallery with lots of D.C. themed and locally made items.

Gift shop in the Building Museum is good, too.

For souvenirs, take a look at White House Gifts. Might be on the pricier side compared to other souvenir stores but from what I remember (pre-pandemic) they had the best selection compared to the other few stores I visited.

I also really like the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center Gift Shop.
