So sad. That man and his beer were a Brattleboro staple.

McNeills was the last stamp on my VBA brewery passport. A few months ago I messaged the owner on Facebook and asked when he expected he would be open. He asked me when I was coming down so that he could open the bar just so I could get my last stamp. The trip ended up postponed and I guess now it will never happen :(.

This is horrible. I wonder if anyone has their old altbier recipe, my dad used to work there when I was a kid.

So sad! I spent many a night at McNeil's. Truly an iconic piece of Vermont's history and the first real micro-brewery of Vermont!

McNeills was a 'real' pub before they became the fashionable in thing. Just locals meeting up over a beer and game of darts.

Bummer. Got married in Wilmington in 2009. Had about 6 cases of bombers on hand from McNeills for the guests

Ray was a total character. He once told a beer club to lobby local stores to sell his beer so he could continue being a "sponsor of your stupid contest". No one in the club was offended because it was just Ray being Ray. Everyone got a good laugh out of it.

I loved the Dead Horse IPA. I enjoyed the board games at the brew pub.
